NEWPORT -- The first day of school for freshmen and sophomores at Newport High School is Monday, Aug. 29. School starts at 7:30 a.m. and students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m.
Freshmen and sophomores then return to school for full days on Wednesday, Aug. 31 and Thursday, Sept. 1.
The first day of school for juniors and seniors is Tuesday, Aug. 30. School starts a 7:30 a.m. and students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m.
Juniors and seniors finish out the week with full days on Wednesday, Aug. 31 and Thursday, Sept. 1.
The orientation days will begin with an assembly and then students will follow a shortened version of their schedule to locate their classrooms and meet their teachers. Buses will provide transportation.
There is no school on Friday, Sept. 2 and Monday, Sept. 5 for the long Labor Day weekend.
