Concerts on the Common kick off-season Sunday

NEWPORT -- Nine Summer Concerts on the Common will kick off a new season Sunday night, June 26, and conclude on Aug. 21.
This is the 36th annual season of one of the longest free concert series held in New England.
Established through the Newport Chamber of Commerce and continued on by them this year, it was developed by the late Louis and Eleanor Thompson, who had the foresight to start this summer event.
The Newport Chamber Commerce will present these concerts again this year. The Sunday evening performances run from 6-8 p.m. Admission is free, bring your blankets and lawn chairs.

Aug. 14 --Brian Devenger, cover the top songs of country, pop and rock, sponsored by Petal Patch, Noise "R" Us.
Aug. 21 --J J's Music, a three-piece country band with Joe Jennings, sponsored by Carroll Concrete, Elliot, Jasper, Auten, Shklar & Ranson.
